Sustainability and quality
At Megahout, these are represented in each and every product
We go for a sustainable future!
Like our parent company Woodwards Group, Megahout stands for a sustainable future. This sounds nice, but it involves a great deal. We are happy to tell you more about it. And don’t forget to take a look on Woodwards Group’s website. Here you will find even more information on sustainability and quality.
Our commitment to sustainability and quality
As a company, we care about a sustainable future. For ourselves, but especially for generations to come. We therefore endorse the European legislation that oversees it. We put maximum effort into sustainability and traceability in every step of the chain – from forestry to ordering. We only supply wood products that comply with the worldwide requirements for sustainable production of wood products.
- All our wood is sustainably produced and comes from areas where attention to sustainable forest management is the norm.
- We are FSC, PEFC and STIP-certified.
- We act in compliance with EUTR legislation; our wood is traceable back to the forest!
Our certifications for sustainability
FSC®
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a global organisation working to conserve and restore forests. With our FSC certification, we contribute to the protection of forests worldwide.
PEFC
We guarantee that our timber comes from a sustainably managed forest in the form of the international PEFC label. The balance between people, planet & profit is essential in this regard.
STIP
The STIP seal of approval guarantees that we only buy and sell responsibly produced wood. This responsibly produced wood meets the government’s sustainability requirements.
Our quality certificates
SKH
We are affiliated to Stichting Keuringsbureau Hout (SKH) [Wood Inspection Agency Foundation]. This demonstrates that our products meet current quality standards.
CE
We hold CE certification for Finger-Jointed Structural Timber and Strength-Graded Softwood. The CE markings indicate that our wood meets all EU requirements in terms of safety, health and environmental protection.
KOMO
We are also KOMO certified for our finger-jointed and strength-graded timber. KOMO® is a quality seal of approval for the construction industry. With our wood, you can build with confidence.
ISPM 15
We are affiliated to Stichting Markering Houten Verpakkingen (SMHV) [Wood Packaging Marking Foundation] and are authorised to carry the international label with a unique registration number. We are registered under number 221.
Recycling wood and waste streams
Besides a sustainable procurement policy and our FSC, PEFC and STIP certification, Megahout also has a deliberate policy when it comes to our waste streams. For example,
We separate waste materials, such as wood residues from
untreated and treated wood, steel wire and plastic.
Sawdust released during production is redeployed in animal housing and the production of energy pellets. This contributes to the preservation of our environment as well.
